Gyna M. Bivens is running for Fort Worth City Council
District 5 with a focus on the following key issues:

She is the President and Executive Director of North Texas
LEAD, a nonprofit that connects job seekers with its 27 member employers. Most of her professional career has been in
news and communications. As a news
reporter, she always covered the City Hall beat. She worked as a radio reporter at KKDA-AM,
KBOX-KMEZ and KRLD. She has worked at KCBD-TV
(Lubbock, Texas) and KMOL-TV (San Antonio, Texas).
Four years after being appointed to run the City
of San Antonio’s Public Information Office, she returned to her hometown of
Fort Worth in November 1986.
In 1998, Gyna became the first African American corporate
spokesperson for TXU Electric and Gas (later known as Oncor Electric Delivery). She was later promoted to the position of
Area Manager and managed company relationships with a number of municipalities.
She has been with LEAD since 2006.
She has served on a number of civic and
municipal boards and was twice elected Chairwoman of the Board of Directors for
The Fort Worth Transportation Authority.
